3 MHz vs. 2 MHz Doppler Probe

A 3MHz probe is recommended to detect a heart rate in early pregnancy (8-10 weeks gestation). A 3 MHz has also been proven to work well throughout the pregnancy.

When in fact after 12 weeks of gestation either probe is easy to find the heartbeat with.

A 2MHz probe is recommended for pregnant women who are overweight.

 

This fetal doppler is a hand-held obstetrical unit, which can be used in hospitals, clinics, and homes for daily self-check. It is specially designed for pregnant women to conduct daily inspections of Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) by themselves. It contains components of ultrasonic signal transmitter and receiver, analog signals processing unit, FHR calculating unit, LCD display control unit, etc.

Instructions
1. Connect the probe with the detector’s main body
2. Lying completely flat on the back.
3. Add a glob of ultrasound gel to the stomach region
4. Grab the fetal doppler and place it within the ultrasound gel. Once it is in a good location, turn the device on.
5. Starting at the pubic bone (located directly under the stomach) the person operating the fetal doppler should slowly slide it up the stomach to the belly button area.
